The industrious ant works diligently in the warm summer days and prepares for the upcoming winter. She meets a cricket, standing upon a grain of sugar, playing music and singing about the sun, freedom, joy, and idleness. The summertime encounter between the ant and the cricket ends with an enormous fight. When winter arrives and the cricket needs help - the ant wishes to teach him a lesson, but is captivated by the music’s magic and opens her home and heart.

הנמלה החרוצה עובדת במרץ בימי הקיץ החמים ומתכוננת לקראת החורף הקרב ובא. היא פוגשת צרצר העומד על גרגר סוכר ומנגן ושר על שמש, חופש, שמחת-חיים ובטלה. המפגש הקיצי בין הנמלה לצרצר מסתיים בריב גדול. כשהחורף מגיע והצרצר זקוק לעזרה, הנמלה מעוניינת ללמד אותו לקח, אולם נשבית בקסם הנגינה ופותחת פתח לביתה ולליבה.
